In 1997 ANTHEMON starts to work on personal compositions, which are very quickly directed towards an Atmospheric and Doom metal style. (later described as " Sympho Doom " by the label Holy Records). The dark, powerful and melodious music of ANTHEMON is, at that time, enriched by a male death metal vocals / lyric female voice duality In May 2000, the sessions of the « Talvi » MCD recording begin (TALVI means "winter" in Finnish). Its music is richer and more mature than in the previous release. The CD is released in November 2000. Good reviews and some concerts allow ANTHEMON to get well known around France. In 2001, ANTHEMON is composing and preparing the recording of its debut album, « Arcanes ». The sessions are lasting from january to may 2003, shortly after SebastienLatour has arrived as a permanent keyboard player. « Arcanes » takes its shape and ANTHEMON gets a deal with Thundering Records. On this first LP, The band has worked a lot on efficience and atmospheres, and trusted Ahti Kortelainen from Tico Tico in Finland for the mix and Mikka Jussila from Finnvox, both in Finland, to give to the album the excellence of the scandinavian sound. The album is really appreciated both by the press and the audience. But as ANTHEMON starts to gain more and more weight within the Atmospheric Metal scene, both Nathalie Bonnaud and Nicolas Joyeux decide to leave the band in November 2003 for personnal reasons. The new line-up decide to increase the evolution of the band, working on some new music with male vocals only and a darker and more progressive style. The album that would become "Dystopia", takes its shape. Recorded in June 2004 and mixed in August 2004 by Ahti Kortelainen of Tico Tico Studio once more, this album shows ANTHEMON at the top of their creativity. The album can be seen as an original soundtrack of the terrible world described in the lyrics, where freedom of mankind is just an illusion... A world that looks very close to ours...
